ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
IIIT Agartala maintains an absolute zero-tolerance policy towards ragging in any form. Every student, faculty member, and staff is responsible for maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment.
What Constitutes Ragging?
As per the UGC Regulations, ragging includes any conduct, whether by words spoken or written, or by act, which has the effect of:
Teasing, harassing, or causing embarrassment to a student
Compelling or coercing a student to do any act that causes or is likely to cause indignity or disgrace
Physically or mentally subjecting a student to any act that affects their dignity
Financially extorting or wrongfully preventing a student from pursuing studies
Punishment for Ragging
Ragging is a criminal offence. Punishment may include one or more of the following actions:
Academic Penalty
Cancellation of admission; debarment from examinations; withholding marks or degree.
Campus Restrictions
Expulsion from hostel; suspension / rustication from the institute.
Fine
Fine up to ₹25,000 payable to the victim or to the institution.
Criminal Prosecution
FIR registered under IPC sections for assault, wrongful confinement, or hurt.
Anti-Ragging Committee
The Institute has constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee and an Anti-Ragging Squad as mandated by the UGC. The committee includes:
Faculty representatives (nominated by the Director)
Student representatives from each batch
Parent / guardian representatives
Representatives from local civil society and law enforcement

Inform your hostel warden or the Anti-Ragging Squad on campus.

Save any messages, photos, or witness information to support your complaint.
Anti-Ragging Undertaking: All students and their parents/guardians must submit a signed undertaking at the time of admission, acknowledging these rules and their consequences.
